چکیده

In wideband direct sequence code division multiple access (W-CDMA) mobile radio, variable-rate data (VRD) services are supported to increase the link capacity. To recover VRD at a receiver, a cyclic redundancy check (CRC)-based blind rate detection scheme was proposed that does not require the transmission of any additional information. This paper proposes a modified CRC-based blind rate detection that improves the rate detection performance when different sizes of VRD blocks are transmitted frame by frame. If difference D in the number of bits between two possible VRD blocks becomes a very small value, the probability of false rate detection (PFRD) increases. The proposed method suppresses such an increase in the PFRD by time-reversing the VRD transmission order of the last R bits. Based on the performance evaluation of the proposed method by computer simulation, when R is set to L (CRC parity bit length), PFRD is reduced by 128 times for R = 8 and D = 2. Keywords-W-CDMA; variable-rate data; blind rate detection; cyclic redundancy check

Nonlinear Multiuser Receiver for Optimized Chaos-Based DS-CDMA Systems

Chaos based communications have drawn increasing attention over the past years. Chaotic signals are derived from non-linear dynamic systems. They are aperiodic, broadband and deterministic signals that appear random in the time domain. Because of these properties, chaotic signals have been proposed to generate spreading sequences for wide-band secure communication recently. Like conventional DS...

A Novel Multi-user Detection Approach on Fluctuations of Autocorrelation Estimators in Non-Cooperative Communication

Recently, blind multi-user detection has become an important topic in code division multiple access (CDMA) systems. Direct-Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS) signals are well-known due to their low probability of detection, and secure communication. In this article, the problem of blind multi-user detection is studied in variable processing gain direct-sequence code division multiple access (VPG D...

Blind Channel Estimation and Multiuser Detection for Multi-rate Cdma Communications

The future wireless communications systems should be able to offer wide variety of applications, which have vastly different quality of service (QoS) requirements. The time-variable QoS may require the support of variable bit rates on the wireless links to the individual users. Multi-rate DS/CDMA is a promising basis on which to support the variable bit rates on the individual wireless links. C...

Blind joint soft-detection assisted slow frequency-hopping multicarrier DS-CDMA

A novel multiple-access scheme based on slow frequency-hopping multicarrier direct-sequence, code-division multiple access (SFH/MC DS-CDMA) is proposed and investigated, which can be rendered compatible with the existing second-generation narrow-band CDMA and third-generation wide-band CDMA systems. Blind joint soft-detection of the SFH/MC DS-CDMA signals is investigated, assuming that the rece...
